Yeah that sounds good. Hopefully every breaking wave is released in april. They should release MOS/Breathe/SUC in january just for the hell of it and then come back with EBW.

Yeah, i agree - since they've been playing recently, and have already made an album recently, they're probably in a good mindset not only to make music, but to make something new and experimental... plus, seeing as No Line kind of flopped, they might try a different approach to making songs (as in not trying to make another 'vertigo' or 'boots'), so i'm actually glad NLOTH - and the singles in particular - failed  :P

I agree; the media have been to generous ever since ATYCLB was released and didn't really give U2 a kick in the butt. Rattle and Hum and Pop's reception was followed by something successful/drastic.

Yeah, i would have actually been annoyed if GOYB had been a success - i mean, i like the song, but its embarrassingly obvious that u2 was trying to replicate vertigo... they weren't pushing themselves, it was the same kind of song in a new wrapping. Now that they know that's not gonna work, hopefully they'll try something new, refreshing and awesome - the kind of creativity we haven't seen since before ATYCLB

Would a U2 jazz funk album be experimental enough?

we'll see. I'm already amazed that Bono isn't screaming from the top of his lungs what the record is going to be and sound like (and mostly ending up far more bland and boring than he promised) in forehand.
Cause man Oh man did No line suffer from him screaming and promising, Punk rock from Venus and dance floor shock and trance influences etc and the record sounded far from that, (a lot of people got really deeply disappointed by U2 not giving what they were waiting for all these years and what Bono was promising the record to sound like month before release.
best is to really let the public decide. keep quiet and just simply  release the damn thing and let the music and not the blah blah yadda yadda yadda do the work.

Exactly.  he made it sound as if it would be the best album of all time, so you had to be a little upset

that probably be for the best... don't get people's hopes up, don't expect much then you won't be disappointed
