I am a Miyazaki fan, and hope you watched his other films too. Howl's... is not his strongest work, although it's probably due to it being an adaptation, therefor the story is quite convoluted. It has totally fantastic ideas and visuals, but it doesn't flow as well as his other films.

I like most of his movies equally, come to think of it... basically I couldn't enjoy Ponyo beyond the visuals and moods, which I loved, and I find Howl too long for its own good. Kiki's Delivery Service is surprisingly entertaining for such a sparsely layed out plot (much like Totoro, but that's better)

Nausicaa, My Neighbour Totoro, Laputa (Castle In The Sky), Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away are pretty much perfect to me, and I can't even rank them. I hope Mr. Miyazaki gets to direct a couple more, especially the follow up to Porco Rosso which he really wanted to make.

You must watch Spirited Away. It's one of my favorite movies.

I like Spirited Away and Princess Monoke. I hope they come out on Blu Ray soon.

I'm so pissed at Disney because of Princess Mononoke. They bought the exclusive distribution rights, and then vaulted it in my country. Every other Ghibli film is available on DVD, and I have all the Miyazaki stuff, but I could only find a download of a digitized VHS casette that was issued for rental back when... Fortunately it's the original dub, well written and voiced, and the picture is high quality, but I don't get why they sit on it, especially now these films got some cult following and the better ones were aired on television, so even smaller kids have seen them. Just release it Grrr.

I really liked Laputa, but i thought it was a bit depressing for some reason... i dont know why, but when the movie was over i just felt confused :P

Well, they had to give up the big dream, but have found a new life anyway.

Oh, yeah. I remember that movie. It made me mad at the end that they just left the castle. I don't remember much from it so maybe there was a good reason...

No, watch it again sometime, it's an awesome movie. It is like most of their other films, about growing up and taking responsibility. I like that they avoid the obvious happy ending too. Plus they manage to keep some booty so all is not lost.

I'm not sure who owns the rights to Princess Mononoke in the US, but Miramax used to own the rights but now their DVD is OOP. I'm sure Disney probably has it.

Anyways, I last watched The Kid (the Chaplin film). I enjoyed it.

ROCK OF AGES!  ;D

Don't listen to the critics, it was easily the most fun I've had at the movies in long, long time. Not as "good" as The Avengers or Hunger Games, but you can't sing along to those two. And they don't have the sexy, sexy Julianne Hough.  ;)
