The Beatles Worship Thread
« on: January 19, 2009, 11:16:54 PM »
U2 is my favorite band...but The Beatles hold a special place in my heart. They're the band that made me love music...they're the band that really introduced me to music. The Beatles' music changed my life  :)

How does everyone else feel about them?

Love, love, love the Beatles.  Have loved them from childhood.  I must have heard them when I was an infant (Yes, they were still together then!), because I grew up feeling like I just knew all their music.  They are a band that deserves to be worshiped.

Great band. A lot of things in music would be different today if it weren't for them.

They are in a class by themselves and there will never be another like them. Pure magic.

Love and respect, maybe not worship.
They're The Beatles, even if you don't worship them, still you know who they are.

Since this is an appropriate place I will quote a line I posted in Great Movie Quotes thread:
Everybody's born knowing all the Beatles lyrics instinctively. They're passed into the fetus subconsciously along with all the amniotic stuff. Fact, they should be called "The Fetals".

I think the Beatles have a chance to be pretty big some day.

For me I started out with Beatles first, then it switched to U2. I usually do U2 and then the beatles on a weekend night for music. John Lennon was so cool.

I've always respected them and liked them.  However, when I saw the Cirque du Soleil show, LOVE, it somehow made me realize how special and amazing their music actually is.  They're still no U2 for me but I appreciate them a lot more since seeing LOVE.

My philosophy professor was having us analyze Descartes' causal adequacy theory and how he rationally proves the existence of an abstract God. My prof then opened the floor for our viewpoints on how we would defend the notion of a deity. At the end, he interjected his own belief: "Well, I believe in a God because of the presence of beauty. Surely the ability to subjectively grasp beauty is different for all people, its not something innate or prewired."

And then he added, "Come on, the Beatles are beautiful. There's got to a be a God just because of that".

Overheard conversation between two students in study hall last year.

Student A: "The whole can never be greater than the sum of its parts."
Student B: "That's not true. The Beatles were greater than John, Paul, George, and Ringo."

How true, how true...

The modern era of music didn't begin until the Beatles did. I think they truly are the Greatest Band Ever. (with all due respect to Bono and co.)
