Rattle And Hum appreciation thread- it needs your love.
« on: July 05, 2010, 07:01:57 PM »
This is the place for it, right?
I hope this thread doesn't exist already... buried beneath other threads. ANYWAY, I have become a big fan of R&H since first listen! It's freaky how much I love the album. (And I'm sure the movie's epic!) So... an appreciation thread for both!  ;D

i'd of appreciated THIS tracklisting....

Van Diemen's Land
Desire
God p2
Hawkmoon 269
Heartland
A Room at the Heartbreak Hotel
Angel of Harlem
When Love Comes To Town
Love Rescue Me
Hallelujah <here she comes>
All I Want Is You

with the 2nd disc being the live songs, plus the ones cut from the album included in the film, well as many as could fit.

here's to hoping we get the Australian Lovetown Tour that the God p2 video was taken from on the Deluxe!

The Joshua Tree & Rattle And Hum still represent my number 1 & 2 albums.  It's nice to see Rattle get some love on here for a change.

They've been mine for about 22 years.  I hope they continue to stick.

Yay EC!  Great!  Let's show some love for  RAH!!  I am currently really enjoying the film-- am amazed by how much everyone was moving around at that point  (well of course not Larry).  Adam was totally dancing at one point (think during Desire).  Thanks for starting this thread!  :)

Love it love it love it. I think the album and movie are so underrated. Thanks for starting this thread!

So many great quotes, but here`s one:
`There are people who say you shouldn`t mix music and politics, or sport and politics, or...whatever. But I think that`s kind of B.S.`

WOOO a R&H appreciation thread. Excellent!  ;D

I personally love the album and the movie (I think I've seen it about 10 times in the past year or so) and am gladly *appreciating*.  :)

My favourite live versions of WOWY and Running to Stand Still are in it, too. Plus, we get *live* Exit and Helter Skelter 8)
Not to mention Van Diemen's Land. And Angel of Harlem. And....okay, now I'm rambling  :D

@Garden Tart: I also love:
"What's this movie about?"
"It's a musical journey."
LARRY!  ;D

hopefully it'll be this year, can't see why it wouldn't be we've gotten reissues each year since JT's 20th in 07. Hopefully an announcment by summers end. But will it get the big-box treatment or the boy-uabrs treatment?

LARRY!  ;D

Haha I love that one too! They all crack up which cracks me up.
 :D :D :D

I also really like Larryès take on the Elvis movies (complete with the Irish inflect in his voice) :
(em) I loved the Elvis movies... Because he wasnèt just playing a car salesman; He was playing a car salesman who loved to play the guitar. And I (em) could really relate to that....I worked a while myself....kind of a glorified messgener boy

Sorry about the è in everything - my laptop does that sometimes....

But my favourite part is when Adam is talking, and Larry is imitating his hand gestures....and Edge is sort of looking at him and trying not to laugh. Oh man. Priceless!  :D
