100 pages of October...
« on: July 14, 2010, 01:31:26 PM »
Over on the October Worship thread we spend a lot of time wondering why October gets dissed so much. Much discussion, much 'virtual' pleading has ensued and this little thread has provided an area of comfort  and solace for our merry band of worshippers!!

So having just hit the milestone of a 100 pages of chat and nonsense we thought we would test the impact (or non impact as the case may be)

Please let us know how good we are doing on the persuasion to 'Even try a listen' or to 'Don't vote it last always in polls' to a much maligned but very worshipped album!!

I have listened to it again and slightly revised upwards my opinions of 'Tomorrow' and 'I Threw a Brick'.

...Unfortunately, I still intensely dislike most of the rest. >.<

But 'Tomorrow' is lovely and I wouldn't half-mind hearing Gloria live!  :D

Gloria live from Red Rocks - sublime! Hoping they decide to play on the next leg!

I respect that people like it, but after three listens I just don't get it.

I find 100 pages to be daunting as I try to always read threads from start to finish. So I must confess I haven't actually visited there much. However, its influence has caused me to make a cassette of October and various songs particularly meaningful to myself and I've been listening to it for a while now. My car only has a cassette player. :-\
I really love this album! It did take a while for me to get into it, but once I started to really listen to the lyrics I was glad I did.
Thank you! I'll have to read the whole thread now I guess. :-[

The Thread did make me listen to the album again and I rediscovered songs like Tomorrow and October, which I realised were more impressive than I had thought.  I think the album being remastered helped in this.  But as an album I still find it the weakest original studio album that U2 have released.  Still, I take the best from the album and I am thankful for that.

Sorry, but October still doesn't register with me. I like the first 3 tracks and Tomorrow, but that's about it. Maybe one day my eyes will be opened, but so far I consider it a pretty bad album by U2 standards.

I love October, Tomorrow, and Gloria.  Is That All is cool too, mainly because of The Cry's riff though.  But yea, October is in my bottom 3 albums

The thread hasn't at all changed the fact that I think it's an okay to pretty good album which I rarely listen to.

None of the options work for me because I've always liked it, albeit not as much as some others, but then again, it was the "Difficult Second Album."

I love October and I posted in the thread to worship with others, so I'm not sure...
