My Favourite U2 Tour
« on: July 18, 2010, 05:44:24 PM »
I have just been watching Zoo TV - Live from Sydney and it has reaffirmed by belief that this is the best and my favourite U2 tour of all.  Incredible.

So I thought that I'd put it to the vote. :)

The ever debonair Cary Grant....Now, if he was wearing a sweater and lacing his sneakers, it would be the very dorky Mr. Rodgers! ;D

Zoo Tv was incredible, but Popmart was just absolute genius.

It has to be Elevation Tour as this broke new ground for U2 with "The Heart" to allow Bono really break out and express himself.

Never forget "The Fly" runaround and clinging to back of lit up Video wall....Wowwwww !  :)

My first U2 tour was Joshua Tree, and subsequently became a fan. My first proper U2 gig as a fan was Lovetown, but by far the best tour was ZooTV followed by Pop. They've written great music since, but the subsequent tours (yes, including 360!!)  are all nothing in comparison!

I can only judge based on the DVDs. It came down to trabants vs. mirrorball lemon. The lemon won.

I've only been to 360, so it's hard for me to have an unbiased opinion. From what I've seen of ZooTV (particularly) and Popmart, I would imagine one of them would be the best experience.

Zoo TV flows better than any other U2 show. It's perfect.  The Joshua Tree section almost seems like an entirely different show to the opening Achtung Baby section.  And the encores were a third show.  In the middle was the very novel (at the time) acoustic set on a B stage.  Acoustic sets have never been as good since.
