The Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry appreciation thread

(1/2) > >>

eurydice:
I am convinced you can't fully appreciate U2 without a working knowledge of Roxy Music.

Conversation I had before a Vertigo Tour show.
Woman next to me in the elipse: So, U2 are your favorite band.
Me: (trying to be nice in reply to that silly comment) Second favorite, actually.
Woman: Really? Who are your favorite band?
Me: Roxy Music
Woman: Who?
Me: Bryan Ferry's band from 70s and 80s
Woman: Don't know him.
Me: Brian Eno was their keyboardist in the 70s
Woman: That name is kinda familiar
Me: (trying not to growl) Yeah. He produced The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree, and Achtung Baby.
Woman: Oh.
Me. (Turn to chat with the guy in the Slipknot tshirt standing on my other side. Hey, he knew who Eno was.)

julsport:
Love Love Love Roxy Music........Bryan Ferry's voice is sexy.

Love the song "Virginia Plain"..........now I need to go download some songs.......have "Love is A Drug" but need more!

CGE:
Bryan Ferry does have one of those sexy voices!
I used to play their stuff on my radio show in college- back in the day
Right after something from War or TUF (usually Bad)

eurydice:
Download "Do the Strand" and "Pyjamarama"

StrongGirl:
Ah, great thread eurydice!  I LOVE your opening post. So typical of what I am used to hearing. They have influenced so many other musicians. Bryan Ferry's voice is so sexy and he is a class act. That is a rare thing. The music has so many beautiful layers to it. Avalon will always be my favorite and very special to me ;). The video is visually gorgeous and done with such class.
