Anyone else not know the lyrics to U2 songs that they've heard 1000s of times?

I don't know what it is but I just don't pay attention to lyrics.

I catch an odd line here and there.

Anyone else like this?

I am. I have to "study" the lyrics if I'm gonna learn. I know most U2 songs today but that's because I'm obsessed and have read them a million times.

Yes. I'm terrible at remembering the lyrics ... unless the song is playing, then all is good. But just to stand and recite them? No chance.

one of my most played. know the main lyrics when i'm singing along but some lines i just go "its no secret that the world is in darkness tonight hhhhm hhhmm lalalalalalala."

As a songwriter I pay REALLY close attention to lyrics. If a song has crappy lyrics it loses all power for me.

One song I always have trouble remembering the lyrics for is "Babyface". The changing lines after "babyface babyface..." always catch me off guard. I never remember which line it is (lace / case / tin foil hair / outer space etc.).

Astonishingly, I remember all the lyrics to Numb.

Numb.  I think many of us would answer this question with Numb :D

But they lyrics to Even Better That The Real Thing used to escape me and recently its been Cedars of Lebanon (probably from a simple lack of listening)
