Some of us were fans at the time of the release of X and Kick and heard many of those songs live in concert at the time, which is why I think those songs are very good, and they rocked live.

^I saw that box set. I know it's going to be expensive, and I don't really all the stuff in it, but I still want it.

I think posted my list elsewhere on this forum. *goes to look*

It was past time for it, though...

No need for the bitchy last line in the article. INXS were great band back in the day. Big mistake to try and keep going without Michael tho. I feel the same about Queen without freddie....i feel they are crapping on the bands legacy

I just keep comparing bands like that to Led Zeppelin, who broke up after the death of their drummer... INXS and Queen both lost their singers, who were the people most thought of in relation to the band and of course the most noticeable members (as in it would be obvious when recording with a replacement member, beacuse the voice would be different), but they decided to continue as a band. I'm always interested in what led them to make those decisions.

There's apparently been no official announcement from INXS on whether or not they've actually broken up, at least not last time I checked. Some people are saying they've only retired from playing live. :-\

Maybe...but INXS made more $$$ than any other band that sold the same amount of albums. They never signed a recording contract - right from the beginning, they financed their own records - the first with a bank loan (one of their early fans was a secretary to a bank vice-president), and subsequent albums through record sales and tour receipts. All their deals with record companies were licensing-and-distribution contracts, which are typically 70-30 splits...and INXS would've been getting the 70.

So maybe not.

I'd say it's definitely about the money.  The vast majority of INXS' income comes from them continuing to be a touring band.

Thank cheeses that they have finally pulled the pin. It was kind of like watching Muhammad Ali go round in the ring in his current form.

My absolute 2nd favourite band in the 80s, saw them 7 times and left great memories. Hutchence was the ultimate frontman.

They have been dead as a band since he decided to try and knock the top off one with a belt around his neck. Such a shame.

Did you see the Kick tour, by any chance?

Hutchence was the ultimate frontman.

He was the quintessential rock frontman, moreso than Bono, because he was sexy and didn't want to be a preacher.

not the ultimate by any means, but certainly the most underrated. why he doesn't come up in "greatest frontman" discussions is beyond me.
