I'm just going to get the bog standard album remasters.  :)

I have no use for all the other sh**.

No love for Disappearing Act, Angels Too Tied To The Ground, Saturday Night, Birdland, the alternate A Sort Of Homecoming, etc? There have been some pretty sweet tracks released on these remasters.

Yes, some of their best stuff... in my humble opinion.

In all the uproar about McGuine$$ statement, remember it costs a bomb to either edit/upgrade an old concert from nearly 20 (no HDD etc in those days) years ago or shoot a brand new documentary. If you want and will want the Deluxe sets then they should pay for it.

As for waiting for material to be posted on YouTube, you will probaly be the same people who then complain about the content.......

I think people might have taken the McGuiness comment the wrong way - I took it to mean that because we (the fans) are willing to pay a lot for the deluxe box set they can spend more money on making it amazing & put more material on it. i.e. they can budget it higher and therefore spend more money on making it.
That's how I interpreted it anyway  :-\

My fear is that if the bonus stuff is music-heavy then there won't be anything on it that we all don't already have (kind of like Medium Rare and Remastered). All I really care about is getting a new pro-shot concert DVD (although I doubt one exists that we haven't already seen), and I'm excited about the documentary, too.

Yes, I would like this too.  A full one with no songs missing.  There must be one where Bono didn't give an underage girl alcohol...

I know, sheesh! I mean, who hasn't done that a few times?

I'd love to have a pro-shot of a second leg ZooTV show, but I meant that I'd like to have actual musical content (live versions included) rather than designer or a U2/ZooTV branded universal TV remote... Of course a pair of the Fly shades with the uber-deluxe would close the deal for many I guess, but I already have them.

If they have non remix originals this is the time to bring them on.

Exactly. The whining about McGuiness is getting a little old.

The only remaster so far I was interested in was JT (for the DVD), and it was worth it. I'm sure AB will, too (I mainly care for the pro-shot DVD of a live show*, and maybe the documentary. I will pass on Salome outtakes, and any and all AB "reworked" songs with 2011 Bono vocals).
*indoor show ? Please.

I just hope they keep them separate remasters with Zooropa.

The solution to this would be a European gig where legal age for consuming alcohol is 18 :-) To prove any girl younger than that would be pretty difficult.

I don't understand why people are expecting an awful lot more from this than from, say, JT or TUF remastered. The Joshua Tree was unquestionably a bigger album and it certainly didn't give up all the in-progress tracks from its sessions. Hell, The Unforgettable Fire DVD didn't even include any video that wasn't already available, let alone a concert. Why should this be totally different?

Because otherwise it's just a rip-off?

But if that's your view... hasn't there been ample evidence that they're fine with that?

The Guggenheim documentary ?

The second official pro shot DVD of this tour after Sydney ? (indoor show, I hope)

Salome outtakes / Interference VHS put to DVD ?

Plethora of outtakes (In cold blood and The Wanderer with Bono on vocals come to mind)

I think this will be the ultimate U2 remaster...

There's always room for a little hope they want to better their ways. Anyway I think JT was handled correctly, so that's the baseline.
