I could see them taking something like the 92 concert in Stockholm and kinda remastering the quality and releasing it.

Speaking of which, other than Stockholm and Sydney, what other proshots are there from Zoo TV?

The (full) ones that come to mind are DC and Adelaide, but there are more.

See with at least 4 known proshot concerts, releasing anything else that hasn't been seen yet seems to be unlikely now, as it would be much for efficient for them just to take one of the concerts that is Sydney and just add it in.

I'd actually hope it was an indoor one, but if DC is picked I'm good, as it's one of the highlights of that tour.

The Fly was remastered on the Best of 1990 - 2000 UK edition.  It will probably be better remastered now but that version is better then the original CD.

If they releases a pro-shot indoor ZOO TV show with remastered sound, then naturally I'm going to get that.  I'm not a madman.

But what if it's a DVD of a stadium show? Do you watch those?

 ;)

I think people might have taken the McGuiness comment the wrong way - I took it to mean that because we (the fans) are willing to pay a lot for the deluxe box set they can spend more money on making it amazing & put more material on it. i.e. they can budget it higher and therefore spend more money on making it.
That's how I interpreted it anyway  :-\

That's what I thought too Voxare! But then I also think his campaign against music piracy is about more than just trying to line U2's pockets, so I might just be naiive :) I do think there's a certain cold calculation about him sometimes, though, and I get a kick out of the whole "Baron Greenback" thing.

the album remasters themselves are interesting because?

Improved sound quality and clarity for my two favourite U2 albums.

I would pay a lot more than the retail price and so I hardly see them as a rip off.

it would be a ripoff to charge more than a normal cd for just the remastered album. they didnt actually record anything, just got the geeks onto the old stuff which surely has to be cheaper than making an album from scratch. most of the price dont go to the artists/remasterers anyway so maybe the same price is reasonable but certainly any more is a ripoff.

but i'll pay it.

when i read it again i can see it from this viewpoint but i still think his mind is on the dollars. i could give him the benefit of the doubt but i've done it too many times with these guys.

anyway i'll still buy it so no huge deal, depending how much it is i'll probably wait for a few months.

and isnt "pump up the value" the worst marketing slogan you've ever heard, picturing a bunch of marketing nerds trying to connect with the cool kids?

I hope they don't pull something like use the alternate Mysterious Ways or new version of Numb from the 2002 Best of (1990 - 2000) for the new album remasters.

I think it is unlikely but possible.  I think if we ever get Pop  re-issued it will be tinkered with.

The sound will be remastered but I don't think they would change the mix significantly.  They might, however, release a companion remixed or re-recorded Pop album.

Yea they wouldn't completely replace the original album songs with tinkered versions, or the 90-00 MW. Pop? who knows. i mean they really really really really want to "re-do" that album, and this would be the perfect place to do that.

They want to redo Pop, they are about to have a giant break, they have recently been experimenting with more 'club' sounding music... I wonder...

And they've even included snippets of Discotecque into Ill Go Crazy in their live shows.

Hmmm.........maybe they're already looking to the POP set.

I wouldn't mind the strings version of Please replacing the original album version on the remaster.
