X&Y is an amazing album. The band has always changed their sound album from album.

I'm not sure if it was seen as a failure. reminds me a bit of Pop

Talk is my favorite song on X&Y....

It's a tie between Talk and Fix You for me. And, next would be Speed of Sound.

I listened to Square One for the first time in a long time today on a whim, and I really must say I think the song is rather excellent. Why was Coldplay so quick to abandon it? Was it because the entire X&Y album is seen as a failure by the band? It and White Shadows both are underrated IMO.
Square One and White Shadows are my favorites on X&Y.

I also love Talk very much...

The first half of X&Y is fantastic. The songs are darker, more interesting, and have an edge to them. It's a shame that the second half of the record sounds like b-sides from their last album. With a stronger second half it could have been a brilliant album. Instead it's just passable; not terrible but not great either.

Ah, people hating on X&Y? Let me step in to defend it.  ;D

I've got two words for all of you: Fix You.

You can't beat it in terms of sheer power and emotion.

But when has Coldplay ever been about stellar lyrics? It's all about emotion. If you want good lyrics, listen to Arcade Fire.
