Why didn't they just say 'dream it all up again' and make it obvious they're trying to be total clones?

The collaborating with Eno on the last two albums wasn't clear enough? :P

Worse than that, it looks like Britain can kiss goodbye to Coldplay's corporation taxes.

No, but let's look at further parallels.

Viva La Vida is an Eno collab with a foreign language title ------> Achtung Baby

Mylo Xyloto is a very synth-heavy Eno collab with a gibberish title and an extremely colourful cover image of which purple is a dominant colour -----> Zooropa

VLV is HTDAAB by way of TUF imo. I'd agree with the colorful cover art of MX though.

I blame Coldplay for Winter not being included on NLOTH.

Mylo Xyloto was Coldplay's Achtung Baby. I've thought that since Teardrop came out.

Bold comparison there.

I actually think Viva La Vida was more fitting for that comparison actually.

Seeing as it's the only Coldplay album I have yet to listen to, I might need to amend that comparison later!

I wasn't aware that Coldplay have reinvented their sound, let alone their image.

Coldplay definitely doesn't have an Achtung Baby. Their sound has evolved, but it's nothing as radical or different as The Fly or Mysterious Ways following the Joshua Tree/ Rattle and Hum.

Viva La Vida seemed like a pretty natural progression from X & Y...and the only reason Mylo Xyloto was different was because some songs (like Paradise) were more pop-ish than their earlier work

Hold up, Coldplay hasn't done a rock n roll/blues ripoff produced by Jimmy Iovine yet!
