I see what you're saying.

for me, Coldplay is supposed to be cheesy, and I like it! it's harking back to 80s music!  :)

I know! I rolled my eyes when I heard their new single was entitled "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall" and was like, "Where are you going with this, Coldplay?", but then I heard the song and it worked. I mean, still incredibly cheesy, but I love the song.

Just saw them on the weekend in Queensland, their only show in Oz (a festival set... I went up for Pulp  :P)

The new stuff is a bit meh. And by a bit I mean a lot.

They really played the early stuff well though, Shiver was incredible as always.

the name of the album will be called Achtung Tree.  ;)

Achtung Tea?

And Major Minus would equal my feelings of their music.

Well, who knows. It might be coming from a crazed Chris Martin/Guy Berryman- fangirl or t could come from a fairly neutral music listener (although more likely the former   :D ) I really enjoyed seeing it played at Glastonbury, and they were quite creative with their presentation too. I guess we'd have to wait to judge if we see it live ourselves.  ;)

I hated Every Teardrop when I heard it on the radio.

I saw it at Glastonbury and thought it was amazing.

Well, I do...I saw it 5 days ago in a field outside Brisbane. It was OK. But the older stuff was SO much better.

Cool, you were at Splendour in the Grass?

I haven't seen any of the new stuff live in person yet, so I don't know. Of course, maybe Coldplay is a band where they have to warm up to their new songs and maybe play around with them a bit live and get a real grasp on their material. I mean, the old stuff has had a chance to evolve and get the members comfortable. Coldplay haven't released this material on the album yet, and its still really early. So maybe if it's not great now, it will get better. I mean, U2 takes a while to warm up to new material too, and so do a lot of other bands. So I think it will take at least until the normal tour to start deciding the real worth of this new material live.  :)

I'm really confused. Did Coldplay release a new CD? I just downloaded a bootleg of them at Glastonbury and there's all these songs I dont know, but there appears to be no record after Viva La Vida.... besides LPs.....? And wikipedia claims they released one (unnamed) in June....?

I like Coldplay. I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Though, really, I have to say that U2 kicks Coldplay's ass live.

This Glasto bootleg is nice. But U2 is way more exciting to listen to live.
