Movie about to start. Only ten other people in the theater. Will post review later.
did you ask those 10 if they got the MX comic? im only partially joking
Haha! No, but I should have.
On to the movie. It was fantastic. Totally surpassed my expectations. It's definitely documentary style but not in the same way that R&H was. Basically they would do a few songs and they show concert and behind the scenes footage with different members of the band just talking about touring and their career and the making of Mylo Xyloto and things like that. There was no one on one interviews or anything like that. All narration style. But the coolest part about those bits is that in the background of each one they played like the backing parts of songs. It was like if you took the drums and guitars off of Charlie Brown and just played what was left. It was a really cool effect going on while they were talking.
The performances they used were really good. The bulk was from the Paris show and it was nice because they would tell you what each performance was from as they were starting it. They only one they used from Glastonbury was Viva La Vida which was good because the footage they had from that was terrible. Everything was really close up and grainy and just shot really bad. But the rest of the footage was great. They had fantastic camera angles and did a lot of post production effects to add to the look of all that is going on with the lights and glow in the dark paint. The used slow motion to accentuate certain parts and the wide shot cutaways of the crowd or the stadiums were spectacular. It really captured how good that concert was. It was really well done and really made like a movie.
I gotta say all in all I was very impressed. Definitely worth it. I can't wait to watch it again Saturday on EPIX and then buy it next Tuesday.
