OK I will go there

Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without

If you're hunger... baby let me feed it
If your heart is full... baby let me bleed it

MERCY, love this song, want to hear it LIVE one day!! Maybe not that sexual, but...thought to put it out there

Tonight we'll build a bridge across the sea and land
See the sky, the burning rain
She will die and live again
Tonight

-A Sort of Homecoming

That's a beautiful way to state it, if put in that context of course.
She will die and live again tonight...

Yes, I agree EC, always loved that line.

All you people have only one thing on your mind  :P   :D :D :D

Actually, I must confess that although I was aware of some sexual references, I realize now there are a lot more than I thought about!  :D

This is why I meant what I said about the sexual and religious references in U2 songs being interchangeable. Their music speaks to so many people because it can have so many interpretations.

Obviously SG you come from a purer place than the rest of us.

So you're saying he is using "die" in the Shakespearian definition? I like that line of thinking.

He did that in Love Is Blindness too.

A little death
Without mourning

I think this is from the French idiom for orgasm, la petite mort.

There's a couple in Billy Boola, I don't think I can quote it here.

Bono's Oedipal Masterpiece:

Lemon, see through in the sunlight
She wore lemon but never in the daylight
She's gonna make you cry
She's gonna make you whisper and moan
When you're dry she draws her water from the stone

And I feel like I'm slowly, slowly, slowly slipping under
And I feel like I'm holding onto nothing

She wore lemon to colour in the cold, grey night
She had heaven and she held on so tight

A man makes a picture, a moving picture
Through light projected he can see himself up close
A man captures colour, a man likes to stare
He turns his money into light to look for her

And I feel like I'm drifting, drifting, drifting from the shore
And I feel like I'm swimming out to her

Midnight is where the day begins
Midnight is where the day begins
Midnight is where the day begins
Midnight is where the day begins

Lemon, see through in the sunlight
A man builds a city with banks and cathedrals
A man melts the sands so he can see the world outside
You're gonna meet her there
A man makes a car
She's your destination
And builds a road to run them on
You gotta get to her
A man dreams of leaving
She's imagination
But he always stays behind

And these are the days when our work has come asunder
And these are the days when we look for something other

Midnight is where the day begins
Midnight is where the day begins
Midnight is where the day begins
Watching her
Midnight is where the day begins
Watching her
Midnight is where the day begins
Midnight is where the day begins
Midnight is where the day begins
Midnight is where the day begins

A man makes a picture, a moving picture
Through light projected he can see himself up close
You're gonna meet her there
A man captures colour
She's your destination
A man likes to stare
There's no sleeping there
He turns his money into light to look for her
She's imagination
Lemon
She is the dreamer, she's imagination
She had heaven
Through the light projected he can see himself up close
She wore lemon
