I really like cedars, it's full of atmosphere and is very thought provoking as a piece, it really takes you somewhere else which is something U2 are so good at doing. The only gripe I have is the delivery of the final line, I don't know what it is, I like the line I just don't like the delivery of '' Gonna last with you longer than your friends''.

I think maybe because it's without any accompanying music. Can't put a sure foot on it.

I kind of agree. I think Cedars is one of the stand-out songs on the album, but I wish Bono had sung it more than just spoken it in places. It all comes down to the note used for the last word of each line. Often he just forgot about the melody and spoke the final note, which sort of puts a damper on it.

I personally like the less melodic, spoken word style of Cedars (even though it makes it too hard to sing!). It's grown on me a lot recently- sounds like a poem instead of a song, which is cool. I think I just like the idea of a moody, thought-provoking piece to close the album with. It's kind of a chill-out song, but the words freak me out (especially the last line spoken without accompaniment...).
