Irish and UK audiences are the worst crowds for u2 in Europe- Ireland especially is now full of casual fans. Southern Europe (Italy, Spain) and South America are the places to see them, IMO. (Although France was also WAY better than Dublin for the crowd)

A shame YBR and Hold Me aren't in the top 22 right now.

Both won't be seen ever again most likely.

i wouldn't go that far. for years i thought i'd missed the chance to hear HMTM live, and lookie there. and who in their right minds would of believed Zooropa/Scarlett/YBR would EVER get played again, seriously? That is to say, don't right the future setlists off so quickly!

Well maybe Hold Me could reappear, but I'm just thinking of how many tours that band will have left.

YBR seems like just an experiment. It sort of died after about 10 performances. Unless they want to try it in Europe next time around.

7

Okay, 7, performances  :P

But it was dropped nonetheless, due to the lack of crowd response I think. And I always found it odd how they decided to try it in North America where crowd response isn't usually strong period.

Amen to that last part. I was in the inner circle at the Salt Lake City show, and no one was really showing any excitement except for me (I was 14) and a college-aged kid in front of me. Most people just bobbed their hands in the air (Yes, even during Elevation). It was pitiful. People were even getting annoyed at me for jumping around to much. Gosh, I wish I could have been to the Slane Castle show, I would have felt right at home.

American fans to ANY type of music always try to act cool and don't show that much emotion because of this. If I was GA and somebody told me to stop jumping I'd jump higher honesty. I paid money and waited to get here, so I'm going to enjoy it.

I want to see U2 in South American or in Milan.  :)

And of those American crappy blase audiences, here in SoCal is probably the worst.

Makes the decision to film the Rose bowl even more mind boggling.

What surprised me was that Baltimore's U2 crowd was more into it than Pittsburgh and that was their last show of the US leg? And...we had the cheap seats for Baltimore and the pricey for Pittsburgh. I MISTAKENLY thought the GA was not a good choice and gave them up in my Ticketmaster cart; mostly because I couldn't imagine anyone I knew wanting to stand there w/ me for hours on end. Now I'll never want to not try for GA!!  ::)

At least it was a big ol' stadium to show the size of the stage...

Doh. 40's just barely making it. :(

And I cant believe the fans want yet another version of WOWY.

Take out Walk On and put in Hold Me, and switch WOWY with YBR, and ISHF with Electrical Storm.

I know, and with 40 I think there has been much better versions from other tours, Willy Williams mentioned somewhere how the crowd reaction they got when the played the song was lackluster at best. The crowd participation with the song is what makes it so special, without it, meh.

See, I was there, in Moncton, and I didnt think the crowd response was lacklustre at all.... And Bono's voice sounded so good singing that song. I have a bootleg from Moncton, but the sound quality isnt the best, and I'd love to have a good version of 40 from there.

Also, when 40 was snippeted at the end of Bad in Pittsburgh, it got a pretty good response too. People were singing it as they left the stage.

I would like to see Electrical Storm and Your Blue Room make it, just b/c of the rarity compared to other DVD/Live releases in the past.

I think it's a great idea, just compare this effort to the Duals from last year, and most people should re-think and not criticize the band as much.

I love the live version of Electrical Storm that I have on a bootleg... (I cant remember where it's from.) I'd also love it to be included on this CD. Same with Your Blue Room (except I dont have a bootleg of YBR).

Yeah, that's the sense I've gotten as well- and, well, the band should know! We have vastly better versions of '40' already available, both on the UABRS and on 'Live From Paris', plus the more recent DVD version (Also much better, IMO) on Vertigo Chicago. I don't see why we'd prefer it to... well, almost any other song on the list outside the big hits.

I wonder what would happen if 40 and Crazy Tonight end up tied?
