Boston vs. Slane Castle- which is the better Elevation Tour DVD?

Slane is a better show/DVD but Boston is the one that should be watched first because that's what Elevation shows were actually like (in arenas).

Slane always seemed superfluous to me.  Nothing wrong with it, but with Boston released a short time before, it seemed "extra".  It also seemed like a missed opportunity to pay homage to the UF by playing some rare material from that album (no ASOH?  boooo....).  The omission of the Fly just seals it for me....nice show to have, but it's not definitive.

Slane, no contest.

+1. The atmosphere. The set. The power of an outdoor gig. And the passion of a hometown crowd. Makes the Bostonians appear neutered. No offense.

Slane is my favorite U2 DVD. It's amazing and there's so much energy, not to mention my favorite version of Out of Control. It still gives me goosebumps when I hear it.

However, I'm also a big fan of the Boston release and it has some unforgettable moments, like The Fly, Stay, Bad, and one of my favorite performances of Streets. It was also the first U2 video I ever saw, so there's definitely some nostalgia there.

Slane is the far better DVD to watch.  Let's be honest, Bono sounds very hoarse and not great in both shows but at least Slane is mixed better.
One thing that annoyed me with Boston is that the crowd noise has been mixed and amped up to near hysterical levels at certain points, which is unlikely.  Watch "Kite" and listen to the modified audience noise which is a cacophony from the intro right up until Bono starts singing (unlikely considering it's a largely unknown album track and an apparently tame audience).
Something interesting to watch for in Slane:  During Streets video from both nights is used, you can see Bono's mic going from being mounted in the stand to in his hand to being mounted again instantaneously!

Still in my tiny minority position that Slane is the worst of their major DVDs, while Boston is great!

Slane is probably the better performance if I were only to listen to the audio, but Boston is the definitive document of the Elevation tour, as it was set in its natural habitat: an arena.

Boston sums up the Elevation Tour pretty well. Slane didn't sum up the elevation tour well as the stage didn't translate we'll into an outside setting. However both concerts seemed to capture the spirit of the events nicely.

Vertigo is the most boring lifeless concert DVD I've ever seen. Why they didn't scrap it and film a different night I'll never know. Money's a bit tight for our Irish chums so it was probably too expensive.
