The Joshua Tree never toured this part of the world  :(

Nup. Stupid quarantine.

One could argue what you guys got was even better.  7 nights at the Melbourne National Tennis Centre during Lovetown- what was the capacity in that arena?  Sydney saw 8 arena dates as well.  No one will ever see anything like that again.

I never saw The Joshua Tree Tour and I also failed to win a contest my local radio station was holding with Lovetown Tokyo tickets as the prize.

Yeah saw them play in Edinburgh  :)

me too! Sadly, i wasnt able to afford to go see the two indoor shows in Glasgow a few days before. To this day, that tour remains my fave Ever u2 tour. I still have my ticket stub too. £17.50 it cost IIRC :)

Wembley Stadium - they came on to Stand By Me - no fancy stage, just 4 guys playing their hearts out (before becoming mega famous spoilt them) and an audience who sang EVERY song from the front to the back of the venue.

Brilliant.

This is when u2 are at their best. Two of my top 3 u2 tours were basic stages, and just about the music!

Wembley Stadium - just them, the music, a few lights and a painted backdrop. I miss how good U2 used to be.

It must have been amazing to go from seeing a JT show to seeing a Zoo TV show in the space of five years.

It was actually more shocking for other reasons than the staging. Mainly that they'd progressed and grown so much as musicians that they made their previous selves look...well, kinda amateurish, honestly. Their '80s shows were so stupendously great because of the way their music inspired the crowd to react.
