So I definitely could not get tickets to that KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas show with Jack White, The Killers, et al. Stubhub's already got 'em for $150. I don't think that's going to work, especially since I won't be getting a full set out of anyone. $150 I would pay for one of The Killers' late December Vegas gigs. Might be able to swing that into a weekend getaway.
Also, tonight was WALK THE MOON. Either I'm getting old or that concert skewed WAY young...like braces and unabashed profanity for the sake of hearing one's own voice. And these kids were weirdly rude and pushy. At one point, I step stepped aside and told this girl who was shoving me, "Go ahead little one, fling yourself forward into that mass of bodies next." This was before anyone was even on stage! She looked very embarrassed and apologized. The state pays me to deal with teenagers all day, I just never thought my pedagogy of sarcasm would be useful after dark.
WALK THE MOON was great. They played 2 rarities (a b-side and something from their hard-to-find I Want! I Want! EP) as well as a new song they wrote in Europe. They played their entire album except for the instrumental interlude. All told, that was only about an hour and ten minutes of show time. Of course they don't have an extensive back catalog to draw from, but I think they'll be even better in a couple of years with material under their belts.
