I've read in a couple of different places recently that the Cowboys are valued at just under $2 billion. Regardless, the Dodgers are worth nowhere near that.

Interesting, I had no idea they were worth that much.

I only mentioned the Yankees because globally they are so well know to so many.

hahahahahahahahahahaha, some idiots paid $2 billion for the f-n Dodgers?!!

ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

I think they underpaid.  The bought the team, the stadium, and the surrounding land I believe.

AWESOME move by Magic Johnson, being part of the group that bought the Dodgers.

Why is this so funny to you?

because the Dallas Cowboys - by far the most valuable North American sports franchise - aren't worth $2 billion. The idea that the Dodgers along with all the property are even worth half that is preposterous. I've read that the new owners' group plans to use the Dodgers as the linchpin for putting together a regional sports cable network, but it's going to take them eons to make the $$$ back even if they're successful.

The Cowboys are not "by far the most valuable North American sports franchise", that's the New York Yankees, which are estimated by some to be worth $3-4 billion.

How is it preposterous?  The Dodgers are a (mostly) successful team located in one of the biggest sports markets in the world, and when combined with the stadium and surrounding property, they absolutely are worth a lot.  Maybe not $2.2 billion, but they are and should be valued in the billions.  Great move by Magic and his partners.  And we've all seen how successful regional sports networks can be.  Just look at the YES Network (the Yankees' regional sports channel and regarded as the best regional sports channel in the US), that alone is worth hundreds of millions of dollars and growing.  The CSN Philly and CSN DC networks are very successful as well, as well as NESN (New England Sports Network) that covers the Red Sox.

it's an hour before game time here in the D, and the wind's blowing hard from home plate out to right center. It's only supposed to get stronger as the day goes on.

Miguel and Prince should have a field day.  :)  :)
