11 O'Clock Tick Tock
« on: January 28, 2012, 11:40:19 AM »
This just popped on my itunes shuffle and what a lost classic this song is. The live versions of it are amazing. Edge's guitar solo is great and throughout he is indeed "on fire". Just wanted to share ....

I watched the Live Aid performance from the TUF collection DVD the other day and thought the same thing! Hadn't listened to that song in a while either.

It almost sounds like it's from the 50s or even a bit rockabilly. Love it! Very energetic and you can't sit still. Even if in the car driving, you MUST bop to it!  ;D

I'm surprised they don't play this as much anymore. Along with I Will Follow, this was one of the songs that made them a live hit very early in their careers. I'm sure many older fans would get a kick out of this song appearing on a setlist.

Perhaps we can see it on the next supposed "arena" tour?

The ending guitar riff is, note for note, identical to the chorus of Kenny Loggins's "Dangerzone." Well, the other way around, but still.

They do have Red Rocks in common.  ;)

I really like the version they played at Irving Plaza in 2000. They slowed it down a bit, made it a bit more sinister and obscure.

This performance has an An Cat Dubh type of vibe to me and Bono's vocals were in If You Wear That Velvet Dress form. Oh my!

What a brilliant song - they played it a bit on Elevation when they were going 'back to basics' - U2 should go 'back to basics' more often.
