in the second case, I remember reading (in either Spin or Rolling Stone) that U2 were already back in the studio about a week after the Elevation tour ended. Pretty sure that article said six days.

Oh wow, that is fast. Although i guess it doesn't mean much, considering the tour ended in 2001 and vertigo was released almost 3 years later.

The Vertigo Tour ended in December 2006 and U2 was in Morocco recording NLOTH in June 2007

Thanks for the info - that's quite promising! So after half a year, they were working in earnest. If that cycle is happening again, it would mean they'd be in the studio by last month... and presumably, we'd start hearing some beach clips/new song info imminently!

Hopeful but not getting excited yet. It has been almost 3 years since NLOTH so maybe just maybe.
