U2 is referenced subtly (not by name) in a recent comic miniseries focusing on the Batman villain The Penguin.

The following exchange occurs between Penguin and the event planner for his nightclub The Iceberg Lounge:

EP: Which band would you like to book for New Year's Eve?
Penguin: I TOLD you which band.
EP: They are demanding a private jet from Dublin.
Penguin: Maybe if you introduce Mr. One-Name to those incriminating pictures I acquired of him with...

And then Batman crashes through the skylight interrupting him. He's so clearly referring to Bono though. It made me smile and chuckle.

It's been sometime since I've bought a comic but I'm going to have to keep my eyes out for this one.

It'll probably get released in a collection pretty soon here - I know the new 52 releases are being put out in collected editions in May.

Looks like September according to Amazon.

I got three issues into Detective Comics. The story is great and quite creepy (and so is the art - very visceral), but I'd rather wait for the collection and read it all in one sitting. I'm not a patient person. :P

For P&P or the new 52?

Oops!

P & P had a September release on Amazon. (Didn't think to check the dates for any of the 52.)

I've been hearing good things about Animal Man; anyone know if Justice League Dark is worth looking into?

In "Last American Virgin" they played "I will follow" when she was having an abortion.

In "Valley Girl" I'm almost sure they played a little bit of a U2 song, but I can't remember which one and it's not listed on their soundtrack. I'm gonna have to research that further cause it's gonna bother me.

I think there was a poster of U2 in her room in"Just one of the guys".

Well, I guess the next time I'm in Austin, I'll have to make a detour there and try out one of those burgers.  :D

In the movie "Just Friends", Ryan Reynolds younger brother has a Joshua Tree poster. Reynolds' character also lies and says he's meeting Bono, and his brother says "I wanna meet Bono!"

In "Mrs Doubtfire", the eldest daughter has an Achtung-era poster in her room.

In the second book of the Fifty Shades trilogy, Fifty Shades Darker, the 2 main characters Ana and Christian, are in Christian's childhood bedroom. On a bulletin board that Ana is looking at she finds thumbed tacked to it several concert ticket stubs including U2, Metallica and The Verve.

Gilmore Girls referenced U2/Bono so often it could be a drinking game.
