Get on Your Boots may have ruined U2

You're delusional. Greatest hits tour or not. 700+ million = a hit.
Keep trying though. It's entertaining.

It may have been a $$$$$$$$$$ hit but it certainly wasn't an artistic hit. I don't know about you but I'm more concerned with the quality of art a band produces rather than how many records or tickets they sell.
Are you into Celine Dion? 3m people went to see her 'taking chances tour'. I'd say that makes that tour a hit in commercial terms but one might question the artistic integrity of it.
You need to get over the size thing - I'm told it's not important

Spin it however you'd like. Unfortunately, "the size thing" does determine what constitutes a "hit" - not whether or not you feel something is artistic. Sorry that's simply not reality. Haven't you ever seen the thing where one guy goes into an art gallery, sees some paintings on the wall and can't understand how it's art and leaves. Another goes in, sees the same paintings and is completely blown away by them. Same concept applies.
Dude - I'm not going to argue semantics with you. We have different opinions of what a "hit" means I guess. Just don't expect to not get a slew of people disagreeing with you especially when you post this on a U2 message board. But I know - what would a U2 board be without the "U2 has sucked ever since ATYCLB" crew who seem to think that their opinion is not just their opinion but the set in stone truth. They make statements like "360 wasn't a hit", try to justify it and get pages worth of replies. Keeps things entertaining I guess.

Post-Pop U2 is garbage musically. It just so happens that they've remained a fantastic live act.

Agreed - although the 360 show I was at was not at all fantastic. The Elevation shows were among the best I've seen

GOYB is u2 at theri VERY poorest. Its a sub standard song. Might have made a tolerable b-side, but thats about it. It was a poor attempt at another Vetigo/ Beautiful day, upbeat anthem....and it BOMBED! Its as poor an album track as u2 has ever put out
Its got too much of a polished feel to it. had it been ruffer around the edges, it may have been more palletable

I was in a bar yesterday and Vertigo came on very loud. It occurred to me what a killer riff that song has. A real punk attitude.
GOYB is a similar attempt but fails totally. The song is too polished, the words are dreadful and it has a terrible title. The 'let me in the sound' part is the best bit utt that doesn't save it from being the worst single they have ever released. Which is a tough call when you think about how bad Pride was.
