It was a poor attempt at another Vetigo/ Beautiful day, upbeat anthem....and it BOMBED! Its as poor an album track as u2 has ever put out

Its got too much of a polished feel to it. had it been ruffer around the edges, it may have been more palletable

I was in a bar yesterday and Vertigo came on very loud. It occurred to me what a killer riff that song has. A real punk attitude.

GOYB is a similar attempt but fails totally. The song is too polished, the words are dreadful and it has a terrible title. The 'let me in the sound' part is the best bit utt that doesn't save it from being the worst single they have ever released. Which is a tough call when you think about how bad Pride was.

Yeah, thank God that 'Pride never went on to become one of their best known and best loved (both critically and commercially) songs and a concert staple!

It's not best loved by me young man

TheSceneoftheAccident:
Pride is a great song and nowhere near one of U2's weakest songs. Regardless of your opinion on it though, it's just ridiculous to compare it -being one of their most enduring singles both critically and commercially as well as a song that ensured the band weren't just lucky with the War album and made them a certified arena band - to Get on Your Boots.

imaginary friend:
GOYB f-n rocks, as the live versions attest. It was just mixed completely f-n WRONG. The "you don't know..." part was as close to Alice In Chains as U2 will ever get, and the song should've been recorded and mixed as such.

Having said that, it's the kind of song that you put out as a second or (preferably) third single - not as your leadoff.
