I think The Fly is the best rock n roll song ever.

It's my favorite U2 rocker for sure.

I was spell blinded when they played it at my NJ show.

Only show to NOT feature The Fly after it's resurrection?  Philly.  Who went to Philly?  This guy.

Yes, but we did get the original version of Magnificent. Which was, I think, the last time it was played on 360. I heard the really bad Magnificent remix in Denver.

And I heard Magnificent not at all!  ???

The more I hear Magnificent, the more I think it should have been the lead single. Then NLOTH, then MOS, then Breathe.

Oh, I agree. Those are my favorite songs. (Well, I love Stand Up Comedy too.)

They aren't necessarily my favorites, but what I think would have worked for airplay. Afther these 4, you could have thrown in GOYB or IGC or SUC or even Cedars. I still love UC too.  :)

Breathe is one of my favorite U2 songs. It's on my top 5. But I also love UC. :) Actually, I pretty much like the whole album...White As Snow has grown on me.

The NYC show got The Fly and Magnificent after Philly.  But I really wish I could have seen The Fly for 2 reasons.  It was the most momentous addition to the set during the last leg, and I had already seen the original Magnificent twice before

The best live version of The Fly was during the Elevation Tour. It rocked really hard plus they sometimes did a slowed down acoustic version which sounded great.

Boots. It does rip off Vertigo's riff, and it has silly lyrics a la Elevation, but there are enough strange experimental things in the song to hook my imagination more than the other two. The chimes during the choruses, and the strangeness of the chords and vocals during the "you don't know"s. Also, the "let me in the sound" section is a stomping rouser unlike anything U2 has ever done before.

Yes.

I don't know why, but I find it really hard to get into Vertigo.   When I'm in the mood for it, it's alright enough; other times, I'm hard-pressed to enjoy it at all.   Elevation...bleh.   Both okay live, I guess, but Boots is still more interesting.

Boots is also one of the only tracks on No Line that actually incorporates some Moroccan influence. Too bad we didn't get more of that.

What Moroccan influence is there on Boots?

I would say the chorus has some eastern influences, I'm sure there's some harmonic minors going on in there, or whatever they're called. Middle eastern-sounding chords.

Right. It's all in the vocals and guitar work in the chorus.

I would say they ripped of Queens of the Stone Age in the chorus

Heh, I can see it. QOTSA definitely incorporate those same types of Middle Eastern influences . . . btw, love QOTSA-inspired U2! We need a whole album of that.

Hell yeah - if U2 rocked like QOTSA, we'd all be impressed!

Agreed. I just don't care much for Vertigo at all. However, I think Native Son is amazing, and listen to it all the time. Therefore, I can conclude it's the lyrics to Vertigo that I don't like.
