What type of Stadium is best for concerts
hrsan:
If a band (doesn't matter which one)is doing a stadium tour, which one would you prefer they do?
Tumbling Dice:
Don Valley Athletics stadium in Sheffield, England, is a pretty good venue - for an open air stadium. I saw the Stones there in 2006 on the Bigger Bang tour and it seemed quite intimate with good sight lines, with a crowd of 30,000.
Here's another rather 'intimate' open air athletics stadium in Missoula, Montana, which the Stones played on the Bigger Bang tour. This is a crowd of just over 20,000.
I guess if you're going to play stadiums, small is better.

voted "football," but the shape is more important. stadiums that have rounded seating areas are not good. :(
I always liked the Silverdome in my hometown. relatively narrow rectangle where the seating went up instead of out. even the last rows in the upper deck put you closer to the stage than in almost any stadium of comparable size. granted, it was a dangerous descent from there even when sober, but fun was definitely had. :)

Football. At most concerts, a Baseball stadium is just too awkward in terms of seating and GA/seating on the floor. I've been to a couple of different concerts at football stadiums and haven't had any complaints about the view. Never been to a soccer stadium, though I'd assume it'd probably be similar to a football one.
Also, I do agree that too big of a football stadium isn't a good thing. I'd never want to see a concert at a place like Michigan Stadium because that place (with GA floor) would probably hold well over 105,000. Too big to have good sound all around the place. I'd say under 60,000 is ideal for most shows.
Zoost:
None, play indoor arenas please.
