People have asked me that if they were to check out U2, what albums would I have them listen to first. I did a sermon at my church on U2 music and that seemed to inspire a lot of people to check them out, especially since I had a talented singer sing Streets and another musician played Miracle Drug and Yahweh during the service with his acoustic guitar. It was all pretty great.

Anyway, I did have this really good play list that I was burning to CD for people... but I lost the play list when I had to redownload iTunes to a new computer. But I thought it had a really good mix of popular songs which I got off of each one of their albums, plus I added a few unheard of ones (ie, Scarlet) just for fun to try to pique one's interest beyond the probably more often heard tunes.

I tell people to listen to TJT first when they ask because I figure it has the most recognizable songs. People want to recognize things they know first. I have told them to try AB after that. It's really kind of hard to direct people on this kind of thing...

Wow! I thought I was the only one who gave a U2-related sermon at church.

For friends of mine who have accused U2 of being boring and uninspired, I played them Zooropa. Managed to impress quite a few too.

One album out of twelve hardly constitutes a whole career of not being boring and uninspired

^ Yes, because albums like Pop, Achtung, Joshua Tree and most of their other albums are "boring" and "uninspired." Riiight. ::)

I wont even bring up October.  :-X :-X It's not boring or uninspired. In fact, it's VERY inspired. Unfortunately, a lot of fans dont even seem to get that.

Honestly, I haven't heard October all the way through yet. It's on my list of albums I need to listen to, though.

Then what did you mean by this? It would seem to imply that Zooropa was their only album that wasn't boring and uninspired....and that albums like Pop, Achtung, JT etc. were boring and uninspired.

If the only record Drooropa could find to support his argument that U2 weren't boring and uninspiring was Zooropa then that hardly reflects well on our slightly embarrassing Irish chums

I think what Drooropa meant was that there are/were people who think U2 are boring in that they are over earnest or over serious. Kind of true if you look at the Rattle and Hum debacle. Achtung Baby and Zooropa changed all that.

No. Zooropa was the best example I grabbed to get them to listen to. Non-fans are hardly going to sit down and listen to multiple albums at once. It was not the ONLY album I could find.

Nice attempt at putting words in my mouth though.

You said that's not much evidence that they're not boring and uninspired. Because you like to wind people up, very much indeed :p

I said if that's all the evidence DROOROPA could find - not the evidence I could find. Please read and process properly before having an opinion  ::) ???
