Fantastic article on Norah Jones by the way. I love her soulful voice; just brilliant.

Come Away With Me is a lovely album.  DM won't produce anything as good.

you never know - I've slammed Danger Mouse relentlessly on this forum, but I'll step up right now and praise his work with Norah. From what I've heard of it so far, guy did a helluva job.

Doesn't mean he and U2 will be a good combination, but I'm actually looking forward to it for more than just being "the next U2 album."

Yeah me too. Working with him is actually forward looking for the band.

They need new blood in the production side.

I refuse to get excited about this.

The band will sit on this for 6-8 months and then scrap it, call Lillywhite, Eno and Lanois and we'll have ATYCAABOTH.

All That You Can't An Atomic Bomb On The Horizon?

Man, I'd hoped we'd seen the last of ungrammatical album titles with Achtung, Baby!    :(

What I don't understand is how you can go from the album "happening to easily" (http://www.spinner.com/2010/10/22/u2-album-danger-mouse/) to no one knowing when or if a new U2 CD will come out. Danger Mouse is a very good producer from what I've heard of his work, and I have to believe that the stuff he's doing with U2 is probably pretty good as well. I don't understand why the band doesn't just release the DM stuff. They've got nothing to lose at this point and they're not getting any younger.

Haha, I really hope the next album title is like 3 words at most, something snappy. If you want people talking about your new stuff, it helps if they have a chance of remembering what it's called!

In my heart I know this is true, but I'm clinging onto the hope that just maybe things will be different this time. (I've had practice at this, it's called being an England fan...)

The main thing is they're likely fearful of it being "too easy". They're probably second guessing the material right now and placing a call to Sillywhite to come scrub the tracks clean of any life.

Thing is, sometimes the stuff that comes "too easy" ends up being your best work. Much like the writer who does his/her best work at the very last minute. You can't force something just because you feel you should take more time/start earlier like everyone else. Some creative types are like that. I suspect U2 are the type of band that does their best work on the first or second try. Where they've run into trouble over the last few records is they've lost their confidence with that first or second take. The result is needless revisions and productions that ultimately dilutes the final product.

I think Danger Mouse is the type of producer that really brings the best, most creative sound out of the artists he works with. U2 needs to do less questioning and more trusting.

Yeah, I like the idea of them working with DM and I like his work, it's U2 I am worried about. :)

^ I think many fans are. If they would just do less scrapping/revisions/production and more album releases, I'm pretty sure the end result would be better than the last few albums.

Hilarious. And now I have You Can't Keep A Horse In A Lighthouse stuck in my head.

In the past few days some people met Dallas, but no signs of the band there
