It's got to be the BOSS!  I can't wait for the wrecking ball to arrive in Toronto.

A band like Coldplay can provide a passionate and intimate experience in any venue. However when the choose to, they like to do this in arenas. For Coldplay it's all about choice.

Right. OK.

Because we don't have any arenas down here, so they're starved for choice...

I get it...

Why on earth would U2 co-headline a tour ?
It's a hypothetical for crying out loud.

Coldplay is too big to open for anybody right now.

Coldplay+U2= match made in heaven

Considering Oasis opened for U2 at the height of their popularity and so did Pearl Jam, I think Coldplay would open for them for a show or 2 (definately not a whole tour)

Oasis opened for U2 in America. In a rare show of common sense, Americans didn't like Oasis so it's not really the same thing. In the UK Oasis were massive at the time though.

Coldplay and U2 co-headlining would be a dream made in heaven. An intimate and passionate experience for both bands.

In America U2 can play stadiums, Coldplay plays arena's. So for an American show in a stadium Coldplay would do the same as Oasis and be the opener.

We've been through this before - Coldplay choose to play arenas. They could play stadiums if they wanted to. For Coldplay it's all about choice.
IF Coldplay were big enuff to play stadiums in US, make no mistake about it, they would be playing them!

 I'd submit, Simple Minds.

Bowie is the only performer (aside from the Beatles) whose back catalogue is vaster, as deep as, and varied enough, and whose performing ability matches up with U2's, so I choose Bowie. Of course he's retired now, and even if he wasn't, he looks like a rich grandmother, so I say jump, and bring on Bruce or Radiohead, if it's an arena show.
Good one. I quite agree about Bowie. He's the only one that has songs that would match any U2 album, including OS1. But as he's retired...

Simple Minds are one of my favourite bands, and their early stuff (before Don't You...) is just amazing, but they don't have the audience drawing power that would be necessary, also Jim Kerr is no more in his prime vocally.

In an ideal world where a co-headline is possible, Jim Kerr is perpetually of The Belfast Child era quality ;)

If Coldplay co-headlined, it wouldn't matter if U2 did Zooropa and Pop in their entirety every night. It wouldn't be worth it if I had to suffer through a moment of Coldplay. Ugh.

The only acceptable choice given was Bowie, although I have ZERO interest in seeing U2 co-headlining a tour.

I didn't choose any option because

1. U2 would never do it IMO
2. Coldplay isn't at U2's level - not saying they won't, we don't know yet
3. Green Day. lol
4. not a big Bowie fan
5. Pearl Jam.......not so much, weren't they an opening act in Hawaii
6. Springsteen wouldn't do it either.

I'd kill to see Coldplay/Springsteen headline a festival. like Glasto last year

Ugh, co-headlining tour? Why don't they play with Poison or the fake Styx then? :P
