U2: Summer Of Song
U2-obsessed and proud:
I urge everyone to do this with a friend who isn't a U2 fan but is interested in becoming one!
I go to college still, and my summer vacation just started. I constantly play U2 around my best friend, and despite her rabid love for music and artists like Springsteen, Coldplay, and Mumford & Sons, she isn't a big U2 fan or anything. She has about 10 songs on her iTunes that she downloaded herself (in addition to U2: Best of 1990-2000) that I put on her laptop. She's liked a few songs I've played for her/sang to her and City of Blinding Lights and With Or Without You are two of her all time favorite songs regardless of artist.
Well, I decided to try to continue the conversion over the summer despite the 300 miles between us. So we've agreed that I would post 2 U2 songs a day on her Facebook wall, complete with a paragraph about each song written by me, the @U2 lyrics page for each song as well as any live performances. She picks a letter of the alphabet and I choose the songs based on the letter. We've on U2: Summer of Song Day 3 and she's already actively engaged in becoming a bigger U2 fan. It's working!
For anyone that goes to college or lower levels of school, I encourage you to do this with a friend over summer break. It will be a good time for both of you. :)
So far, we've gone like this:
Day 1-Flower Child and Fez-Being Born
Day 2-Smile and Some Days Are Better Than Others
Day 3-Kite
Dali:
That's quite a missionary's approach there. I guess I like things a little more subtle but if you can enjoy it, ahead you go.
zootv:
Why would you invest the time and the energy into making someone else a U2 fan?
U2-obsessed and proud:
She's my best friend, already has an interest in U2, and loves discovering new music. She loves it and looks forward to it :)

I like the way you think. Who gives a toss about what others think?
I was giving some 'friend' a ride and she sarcastically made comments about Zooropa the album (despite me telling her it was my CD, not the radio). The blow really came with "Some Days Are Better Than Others", so I'm amazed at your courage to make that day 2's song.
What a b**** I know. I guess some people are deaf and incapable of experiencing beauty ::)
