I've been looking forward to this film, but I'd rather have Edge's LIB from FTSD.

Okay, that was very cool and Jack's version fits well.

Precisely, Jack's definitely works. Read the book and watch the Robert Redford/Mia Farrow/Bruce Dern film. Very good.

That RR and Mia Farrow version drives me bananas!  It's got so many weird moments where you can tell it's trying to be artsy and deep and hit you over the head with symbolism and foreshadowing, but it just ends up making me laugh every time. (Sorry, I was practicing my polysyndeton with lots of "ands" in that last sentence).  Case in the point: check out the part where Sam Waterson's Nick picks up a dead seagull and notices that RR's Gatsby has been watching him from a little bluff above...cue dramatic music.   ;D

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this next version of GG.  There were some cringe-worthy liberties in the trailer, but there also looked like plenty of beautiful production to make up for it.

Wow I didn't know this song was around during the Roaring 20s.  8)

Really though, movie looks great, but I hope the actual movie has 20s Jazz music. I'm not sure Jay-Z and jack white fit with the 1920s. The modern music was probably just to hype the film.

I haven't seen it in YEARS, but it was Redford at his most dashing, so I'm in.  ;) And Mia Farrow was Daisy just as Carey Mulligan looks to nail the role too. Baz & Leo together again should be worth watching.

Don't you think a Baz Luhrmann version will have its share of "weird" too? :p

Now you all have me curious.  I've read the book twice, and the second time was because I found the book so unmemorable that I forgot I had read it until I was about halfway through.  Then again, while I didn't like it any more the second time through, I definitely remember it in much more detail now.  I have a hard time visualizing how the story could work as a movie (never saw the earlier version with RR discussed).  I do think Dicaprio makes a good fit.  The character seems right up his alley with respect to his typical roles and Baz Luhrmann will have the knack to pull off something unique, that will be fitting.

When I saw the trailer it was NOTHING like what I imagined in the book. Which is actually a good thing because I thought the book was boring.

I adore Baz Lurman and Carey Mulligan, so this movie will be a must see for me.
And Jack White's LiB was a cherry on top :)

Great, so now everyone will think Love Is Blindness is Jack White's song. Damn it
