At least the song has a Wikipedia page so people can look it up.

But realistically, most people aren't going to discover the song because of this trailer. Let's be honest here. But if someone does discover the song, more power to them.

I think it's kind of weird that this song made it in the trailer since it's in an album that's basically a limited edition album (except when downloading it on iTunes.) And even then, you can't buy the song by itself on iTunes.

I think that weird autotuned song in the beginning of the trailer is a bad choice. And I'm not going to see the movie because I don't think it looks good and Baz Luhrmann's movies bug me.

So definitely might open some eyes to the fact that not all U2 songs sound like Beautiful Day.

How?  There's no way anyone will know that it's a cover.  Everyone will think that it's Jack White's song.

Or they'll look up the song after hearing it and find out that it's a cover.

I'm not going to get my hopes up about that, especially if the soundtrack says "Love Is Blindness-Jack White (originally by U2)" or something like that.  If everyone gets so excited and loves White's version, I doubt people will be enthusiastic about U2's much more subdued, quiet version

I doubt the song will be in the movie actually.

Sometimes covers get more attention. Look at Mad World for example. Tears for Fears wrote the actual song, which was a rock type ballad. But it got so much more popular and the majority know the piano and vocal version by Gary Jules.

Those people are clueless.  :P

I see all Baz Luhrmann movies in the theater if at all possible because they look so amazing.

I haven't watched Australia as it seemed dull and if we're talking movies and Down Under, then it's either The Proposition, Until The End Of The World or the Mad Max trilogy for me. Moulin Rouge had style but no substance (and overhyped to the point of inevitable disappointment), but Strictly Ballroom and Romeo+Juliet were awesome, and Gatsby seems like a worthy subject.

yup. Australia didnt look good imo, MRouge was great visually but ill take Chicago over it in terms of popular musicals. Gatsby seems good and Leo usually does good work. LOVED Aviator and Inception specifically

I don't like musicals, that might have hurt MR in my eyes of course.
Aviator is a fine movie, and Inception is quite good as well, and LDC has proven himself to be a solid actor over the years. Catch Me If You Can was cool as well.
