I'm enjoying it. It's not mind-blowing like I was hoping for but it's a solid record and has enough great songs to keep their legacy going.

On my first listen I think its an album that needs some work to get into...

Then again I was like that with Day and Age

See, i think Matter Of Time is the most Bon Jovi-esque. With that woahhh oh oh oh ohhhhhh backing vox. The way you feel about this is the way i feel about Mylo Xyloto. Instead of growing on me, it's lessening with each listen. I'd rank it 3rd, only a step ahead of HF due to it's consistent quality, i like it alot and am liking it more with each listen, but it wont beat ST, D&A to me. With that being said, the tour will blow my mind i am sure. Yea, i can see these songs taking on a whole new dimension live!
Yeah i actually hate mylo xylophonolotto

THERE SHALL BE NO HATING ON MYLO XYLOTO IN UNRELATED THREADS. >:(

Anyways, the best songs for me are the big ones: Flesh and Bone, Runaways, Here With Me, and Rising Tide.

The worst is easily The Way It Was, I completely agree with you on that one Briscoe.

why is The Way It Is the worst?

the lyrics, the jefferson starship melody rooted in the mid 80s,the horrible mid tempo. Ugh. Horrible

I like the album but some of the lyrics are immature, almost like a teenager writing about a breakup. Musically, I really like it. Overall, at this point, I like the album and it's growing on me the more I listen to it.

I'm loving it. Honestly it's hard to go wrong with Lillywhite producing and this album does not disappoint. He seems to get the best out of a lot of bands.

to me the ONLY song that I hate and refuse to listen to now on Battle Born is that god-awful Heart of A Girl song. Everything else is pretty damn good.

I think they absolutely kill the album with tracks 3 and 4. It sucks the life out of the opening two songs.

As I've said, track 3 is nothing short of awful, and as for track 4... 'Don't want your picture on my cell phone, I want you here with me'. Who the flower does flowers think he is? Carly Rae Jepsom?

Horrendous pairing of songs and awful placement on the album.

Thankfully other parts of the album are very listenable, if not particularly challenging for the band.

Live they've always been strong, but I can't even see Bon Jovi getting far with The Way it Was and Here With Me. Well, OK, actually I can...probably to number 1. But that's precisely my point...

I think. I'm not sure what my point is. Or was.

Oh yeah. Tracks 3 and 4. Dogs.

I must say I'm disappointed in the album. It's still good, just not as good as I expected. I'd rank it fourth out of the five albums, behind Sam's Town, Day and Age, and Hot Fuss.

still say HOAG and BS are the worst. The Way It Was? That's not that bad at all imo. I agree with the "picture on my cell phone" line being very immature, as i agree with the "teenage heartbreak" lyrics being a lil beneath Flowers at this point, but overall it's a grower and i like it. Yea, i'd rank 3rd of the 4 albums. Switch out HOAG with Carry Me Home from the DE and i'd be happier.

I actually prefer Sawdust at this point in time.
