Who would you like to see U2 Co-Brand with?
« on: June 07, 2012, 01:56:26 PM »
It's no secret that U2 is one of the most successful bands out there when it comes to co-branding. In the past, we have seen U2 hold hands with Apple to launch the iPod U2 edition. If you were in the position to choose the next big product/merchandise for U2 then what would it be? Personally, I would like to see U2 iPhone Dock speakers (providing they are aesthetically pleasing and have good sound quality).

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Mostly, nobody, though that ship has already sailed.  I think corporate ties weaken (and have weakened) U2's image as an artistically relevant band.

I agree, remember what Bono said about the 'corporate monster' back in the Popmart days?  I do every time I see a pic of the U2 iPod...though it's pretty.

Prince marketed one of his albums as part of a monthly music magazine. Mariah Carey has allowed advertising in her CD booklet back in the day. The former is a nice concept, the latter not so much.

However, I feel U2 could partner with a perfume company to release a fragrance / deodorant line
called "U2 - A Scent" and package a full length or not so full length CD with it called "Songs Of Ascent".

Sirius/XM radio would be cool - to get a 24/7 U2 channel.

I have thought of this many times...I mean, If Springsteen & Pearl Jam have their own station, shouldn't U2?!

Beats by Dr. Dre
Hey Jimmy Iovine is co-branded with Dr. Dre. We all know that Iovine produced Rattle & Hum.
It's could be highly possible.

Beats by Dre are a pair of overpriced hyped POS, don't buy them, get an AKG or Sennheiser.

U2 never should've done corporate sponsorship/co-branding, it does hurt their integrity. The more they act like a brand themselves, the less I am able to care about their music. I wish Popmart/young Bono could time travel and kick 2012 Bono's ass. Just in retribution.

No rock band should ever align themselves with either a corporation or a politician.

does that include equipment endorsements? Larry's been a Yamaha endorsee since like 1984 or something, and they're one of the biggest corporations in the world.

whatever...they kinda of already sold out.
their legacy is the only thing that matters and it's already set stone even if they come out with a great album
