I hate that song so much!

The band, obviously, can do no wrong. The music they produce is transcendent. But holy crap I hate "City of Blinding Lights" so much. I don't know what it is about it that rubs me wrong, but I can't stand it. The same goes for "Angel of Harlem." So grating. And "Grace." Oh, how I loathe that song.

And I should probably make a distinction between this thread and the "worst song" thread. This isn't about identifying the band's worst songs, some of which are wholly beloved ("Refugee" anyone? Love it.). It's about naming the ones you hate, for whatever reason. They could be some of the band's most brilliant work but for whatever reason, you hate them.

So, there ya go. Post away.

Poor City of Blinding Lights At least I have enough love for it!

I love so many more U2 songs than I hate, but the one I really dislike is Crumbs From Your Table... you're going to laugh at me for this, but I seriously can't get past the minor grammatical error in the chorus. And the music is boring and grates my ears. On the same album, All Because of You... so loud and so annoying.

And how can I forget Numb... I do not like that song at all. It's lyrically interesting, but when the lyrics are spoken in monotone and almost covered up by the wacko background music, then you can't tell that they're interesting. My favorite parts of it are Bono singing in falsetto and even that gets annoying.

Also, I dislike Peace On Earth, not hate it but it's just boring to me. I don't really like Red Light or God Part II either.

Love Rescue Me comes closest. I think they have a couple of other songs that are worse, but LRM comes across as a lame sequel to their cover of "Jesus Christ," whereas the other songs are bad in an original way.


...oh, and COBL's their 2nd-best song.

While I love the Zooropa album, I will be perfectly happy to never hear Some Days Are Better then Others and Daddys Gonna Pay for Your Crashed Car again. I also cannot stand Unknown Caller.

Stuck - any version, just doesn't do it for me
All Because of You - Bono sounds very out of tune to me and it just bugs me! Plus the lyrics don't flow right, IMO.
Stay - I find it boring

Love and Peace or Else. That song is just tremendously bad. Terribly over produced and just forced in every way possible. I've never liked it and still hate it as much as the first time I heard it.

The original version of I'll Go Crazy if I Don't Go Crazy Tonight as well as Yahweh.   I think they were just trying too hard on those songs and I find the results excruciating.  I have more songs to list, but can't think of them right now..
