Bono records Lady Gaga duet with Ali - dedicates it to Eve
« on: July 10, 2012, 07:56:19 AM »
Bono has recorded a duet of Lady Gaga's 'Telephone' with his wife Ali Hewson.
The U2 frontman unveiled the version of the song at his daughter Eve's 21st birthday party in Las Vegas on Saturday (07.07.12), where it was played to assembled guests including music mogul Jimmy lovine and Wilmer Valderrama.
Bono himself introduced the track - originally performed by Lady Gaga and Beyonce Knowles in a 'Bonnie and Clyde'-themed video - before sending two bottles of Dom Perignon champagne to his daughter's table at the party at 1Oak nightclub at the Mirage hotel.
According to the New York Post newspaper, other guests at the event included 'Transformers' director Michael Bay and basketball star Kobe Bryant, while rapper Fabolous gave a shout out to Eve and dedicated a song to her.
It was the second-leg of celebrations for Eve, who earlier in the day had enjoyed a dinner with family and friends at Tao Las Vegas.
However, Bono did not celebrate too hard on Saturday, as the day after he attended Cirque du Soleil's 'Love' show at The Mirage - which is based on the music of The Beatles - where he met performers and posed for pictures alongside his wife Ali.

This almost seems like an April Fools to me.

I didn't know Ali sang. I wonder what he will do with the record?

I am very curious to hear Bono's version of that song, though I don't think this recording will ever be for our ears - it was probably just meant for Eve's birthday, all in good fun.

In my insane empire (tm) none should even try and smile.

No, I don't mind them having fun and mingling with celebrities, but I can't help but feel they are trying to turn their daughter into a celebrity (possibly because she wants to become one, I don't care about the reasons), and it usually means total painful suckage and wasted effort and money (from a quality point of view), and I'm sure a lot of U2 fans will be supportive of U2 kids, despite knowing nothing about the return of their investment, or even of the outright undeserving. Talent doesn't always surface in talented peeps' children, and too many failed miserably in pop culture, and many more have turned out insufferably mediocre "art".

There's quite a gap between a light-heardet duet and turning a child into a star.

So if Transformers direct Michael Bay is buddies with Bono or Eve or whoever and was there, maybe that explains how North Star got in the Transformers movie.

LOL.  Yeah, Peter Gabriel's daughter is proof enough that talent is not necessarily hereditary.  It pains me that he's kept her on his tours to sing the parts of the much more talented women that originated them.

Of course, but I'm more worried about Michael Bay... :-)
Maybe she'll just dance in a Fabulous video eventually.

If she turns out to be a talented whatever it's okay, but no cringe inducing stuff please.
