Why no digital option for U22?
ScotK:
With all the talk about the quality, setlist, etc. of the U22 CDs it occurred to me if they really do have copies of all the shows why they didn't offer fanclub members a way to make their own version of U22? Technically it would not be difficult.
The fans chose the 22 songs and we assume they have many versions of each song...right?
So why not post 3 (insert # here) versions of each song and let the fanclub members download one version of each song and create their own version of U22? Seems like this might have made the fans happier.
Thoughts?

So people are complaining, even though they got to vote for the songs on the album, that U2 didn't pick the right VERSION of each song? Or that U2 are being jerks by not letting people choose the version they want? I think it's absurd. I'm not a member of the fanclub and have no interest in U22, but it really seems there is simply no pleasing some people.
ScotK:
Hi JF,
There are many complaints ranging from sound quality, to Bono's voice to song version. I see both sides and I see your side too. Although, if you are a U2 fan why would you have no interest in having the discs?
As with many of the non-album releases, U22 seems to be less than it could be.
U22 positives:
They finally released an official live your recording
Fans got to vote for the songs on the setlist
U22 negatives:
Bono's voice was weak on some of the songs...TUF is one example
Several of the songs were not unique and one wonders why these versions were included when they had hundreds to choose from. Mysterious ways, WOWY...others.

Way to read into the original post something that was never stated. :o

What wasn't stated? He specifically asked about having access to choose the version of each song. That's what I'm replying to. (I may have been a tad hyperbolic about the "jerks" comment, but my point is sound.)
ScotK, my status as a "U2 fan" is admittedly largely historic at this point. I still dearly love the stuff they released up through the 90's--even into the 00's--and listen to them frequently. However, I'm also very disillusioned with their current state, I think NLOTH is their worst album to date, and wasn't impressed with 360. I also won't pay into any fanclub--for them or ANY band, as I've never seen any worthwhile return on the membership fee. That all speaks to my disinterest in U22. From what I've heard on here, it doesn't sound like I'm missing out on too much.
