The other day I was talking to a friend who is highly involved in the One foundation. He told me he knows people inside U2's tour planning, and that they are preparing for an indoor arena tour starting next spring. I honestly have no idea how legit my friend's sources are but he's a trustworthy guy, so it gives me hope for an early release in 2013.

Over about 15 years of having the internet, i have lost count of the amount of times i have heard these types of SOMEONE KNOWS SOMEONE tales on u2 sites. 95% of the time, to put any faith in them, proves to be folly

Very interesting information, if true, that would be terrific.

Hi Smee

I do know someone who has worked on the road with U2 since the JT era. Over the years he has introduced me to Dallas (top bloke) and got me signed picks from the band and passed me many of his tour personnel clothing. However, I asked him to tell me a secret once and what he revealed shattered around 20 years of what I thought I knew about the band.
He is currently on tour with another artist so I would be unable to ask if the new album quotes are true.

I will get the skinny on this as soon as I can.

Really? You made me curious, what could have shattered what you thought about the band for 20 years?

What did he tell you? I'm very curious to what he had to say.

Metallica don't seem to be working too hard on the Death Pathetic followup.

Really, could you do better? Do you think for a second that Lars Ulrich doesn't really care about his work?

I just don't want to hear years of rumours with X producer and then for Bono to say publically "oh yeah we scrapped that"

As to the first bold part, if there were a *jealous* smilie, I'd be using it here!

As to the second, you really can't say something like that and then just leave us hanging.

A 2013 release date is somewhat likely given the Danger Mouse produced sessions have been going so well. The promotional machine still needs some time to get into gear so it's 2013, not 2012.
And that also leaves them enough time for some unnecessary Lillywhitewashing.

One thing is certain: I'll have a listen in a store once the album is there. They will probably come up with several different versions again, too.

hell, you could do better, and so could just about anyone here. as for caring about his work, he told an interviewer a couple of weeks ago that he doesn't really practice drums anymore. Not that that hasn't been obvious for over 20 years now to anyone with a working pair of ears.

Maybe its my age but I cannot get excited about a new U2 album any more. I am a huge fan of the band but the most exciting time was between Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby. That was 25 years ago. Ouch!!!!!. No really good albums since then (HTDAAB was OK but nothing special). There is no doubt these guys are still great live but creatively I think their best days are behind them. They could surprise me though.

I've been a U2 fan for two years. It doesn't matter what quality the music is- as long as there's an album, I can get excited about it.
