The other day I was talking to a friend who is highly involved in the One foundation. He told me he knows people inside U2's tour planning, and that they are preparing for an indoor arena tour starting next spring. I honestly have no idea how legit my friend's sources are but he's a trustworthy guy, so it gives me hope for an early release in 2013.

Over about 15 years of having the internet, i have lost count of the amount of times i have heard these types of SOMEONE KNOWS SOMEONE tales on u2 sites. 95% of the time, to put any faith in them, proves to be folly

Hi Smee

I do know someone who has worked on the road with U2 since the JT era. Over the years he has introduced me to Dallas (top bloke) and got me signed picks from the band and passed me many of his tour personnel clothing. However, I asked him to tell me a secret once and what he revealed shattered around 20 years of what I thought I knew about the band.He is currently on tour with another artist so I would be unable to ask if the new album quotes are true.

I will get the skinny on this as soon as I can.

As to the first bold part, if there were a *jealous* smilie, I'd be using it here!

As to the second, you really can't say something like that and then just leave us hanging.

Agreed, you kind of just dropped a bomb and ran...

Sorry I never thought about that ......

I would happily share with you anything I have been told if it fitted into a general discussion topic, but it is actually of a personal nature and more than anything I don't feel it is my place to disclose it.

Rest assured that it wouldn't have been a game changer for you, for me it was a "sometimes its better not to know" moment.

P.S. Dallas is a terrible flirt.

I have no idea what anyone is insinuating!  And does "terrible flirt" mean he flirts ineptly or that he flirts a lot? So many questions!

Maybe its my age but I cannot get excited about a new U2 album any more. I am a huge fan of the band but the most exciting time was between Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby. That was 25 years ago. Ouch!!!!!. No really good albums since then (HTDAAB was OK but nothing special). There is no doubt these guys are still great live but creatively I think their best days are behind them. They could surprise me though.

HTDAAB was the worst thing they've produced in a long time. Zooropa, Pop and NLOTH were great albums. Achtung is overrated.

Any band that is capable of writing and recording Moment of Surrender is still worth getting excited about. Even if their strongest albums are behind them, they are still capable of producing something special.

Why would anyone expect a guitar technician to be a good flirt?

So it wasn't about The Clash at all! It was always about Jackie Chan! My thoughts have sure been shattered.

Get ready for months of sightings, leaked audio and other, typical pre-release goodies and chatter. I just hope they don't go too far with the whole "need to be relevant" attitude, at this stage if they tried too hard to compete with Lady Gaga they might look ridiculous, that Haiti song with Jay-Z was already terrible. If they just focus on rocking out and being creative with heart they will do ok, just look at how some acts from the 1990s-2000s that were always awful keep coming in at #1 on the charts (Godsmack, Korn), if U2 puts out a good album it will leave a mark no matter what.
