Cold War Kids - Love Is Mystical
Real Ones - Hey Junior
U2 - You're The Best Thing About Me
Benni Sparks - Chasing Cars
Blondie - Too Much
All of them from 2017
Just went to see Cold War Kids (who opened for Young the Giant, but I was there more for Cold War Kids. Young the Giant was good, however). As usual Cold War Kids were great. Their newer stuff seems more pop-ish (that is a neutral statement). I liked it, but need to give it a proper listen
Also recently saw Blondie w Garbage. Both GREAT. The new songs are very good, and came off great live!
I just recently discovered Cold War Kids, my new favorite. I heard only their last album LA Divine, twice so far... it's amazing how classic sounding and innovative they are by playing with possibilities where songs can go, absolutely beautiful this kind of music is still out there.
Blondie's last release made me feel almost like I was in the 70's, songs like Fun just make me smile, Hearts Of Glass seem to come to mind. I would almost say that Blondie were not even as much pop-ish in the 70's/80's like now.
It seems that many bands and songs nowadays seem to incorporate a more uplifting joyful or pop-ish sound, it seems like U2 are not alone in this move.
