Paul Lambert in response to questions from the media regarding Darren Bent -

"If I was going to lie to you, honestly, I would lie" hahahaha love it.

Almost as funny as listening to the Neville Brothers' punditry.

Didn't matter Dice, drunk, sober, hungover or suicidal, I saw every single game he played at Villa Park and he was never less than exceptional. Awesome footballer.

Messi will break Muller's record in the coming days for goals in a calendar year, great article by the best football journalist on the best football player - You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

He would be priceless. Imagine if he'd actually had a pair of knees and was able to train!

So you mean he used to just turn up on match day for a game.

I take it all back.  All Hail to the Ale!

So Platini's plans for the Euros then? And what of this talk about the Champions League absorbing the Europa League (making it a 64 club tournament!!!)

I think having the Euros across Europe is a stupid idea, it's an anti-fan idea.

Quite like the idea of a 64 club (that sounds brilliantly ludicrous) Champions League though and lets face it the Europa League is a joke.

I'm always sceptical of continental Europeans with big ideas making plans which involve the UK.  It usually involves a dilution of the UK's power.

The Champions League should be made up of teams just that, champions. Therefore just the winners of all the league's in Europe competing. Also know as the old European Cup. Just my opinion.

I don't think there's a football fan walking the earth that would disagree with that.

I'd like Uefa to bring back the three old European trophies that I grew up with - European Cup; Cup Winners Cup; Uefa Cup.

Or is that just too simple for the European bureaucrats?

Yup, just like the Champions League (European Cup) being made up of champions, the old Cup Winners Cup made up of domestic cup winners. Its simple really.

I agree TD, bring the three back. Were you in Rotterdam in 1985? Best night of my life.

Regrettably not.  Another delight which you enjoyed but I missed out on. :(
