Not terrible, but rather underwhelming. Lukewarm really, a wasted opportunity.

I thought Garbage's Wild Horses was sonically interesting but a bit lacking in dynamics over the course of the song. Everything else was awful.

Nothing anyone does with UTEOTW will ever make me like that song.

I found Snow Patrol's Mysterious Ways to be sooooooooo sloooooooooooow

I hate Garbage's Horses, undercooked and clanky and too long, but PS' UTEOTW works okay, and Jack White's LIB is good, UV is decent and the rest is forgettable.

The Killers UV makes that album worth existing, imo

I agree. That one really grew on me--at first I was not a fan, but now it, along with So Cruel and Acrobat, is a stand out. Then again, I'm partial to Depeche so maybe that's why.  :)

jack white's love is blindness cover was great, probably the only one to breathe new life into those songs. patti smith was good too. snow patrol utterly butchered mysterious ways.

Oh. I'm a Killers fanatic, that was the only song i was predisposed to love. It's just a bonus that it turned out to be fantastic!

The NIN cover of Zoo Station, Garbage's cover of Wild Horses and Jack White's cover of Love is Blindness are the best tracks on the album. The Killers' UV cover is pretty good too.

In the upcoming movie, "The Impossible", Damien Rice's cover of One is used in the trailer.  I don't understand why they keep using these stupid covers in trailers and will not just use U2.

Here is the page for the trailer:

Because it's cheaper. Actual U2 songs go for about $250,000 in movies.

They should of spent a little more for U2.  U2 is always worth $250,000.

Keep in mind that you can't spend a lot of money on marketing if you want to make a profit (unless it's a summer blockbuster). It's a business decision. They're not going to spend that much just for a song that will only be used in a trailer.

As a huge NIN fan, I was disappointed in their cover.  I actually think the whole album is generally too slow.  Some musicians I expect slow from, but others I was disappointed in.  I do kind of like the DM cover of So Cruel, but it doesn't really add anything to the song either.

As for using U2 covers, I'm not sure exactly how the rights go.  It is still a U2 song, so I'd imagine that using the Rice version of One would still benefit U2's wallet and Mr. Rice's wallet.  The question I guess would be how much the cost would be.  U2 may not have even let them have their version of One.
