Not currently and not sure if I would skip them for any band of the past, but there are a few contenders.

hmmm, interesting thread...right off the bat id say if it was U2 1987-1993 there would be NO other band i would give them up for. other than that,  i would pick Fleetwood Mac 1977-1982. Perhaps the peak Smashing Pumpkins in mid 90's

My first ever "grown up" concert was a festival style Fleetwood Mac concert in 1978.  I use the term grown up loosely since I saw so many people seriously UI that night. My parents were crazy to let me go!! Rumours stands the test of time.

I'd skip Bomb/360 U2 for any of these...

70's ZZ Top
Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue & the 'Judas' gig.
Prince any time apart from the mid to late 90's
Neil Young & Crazy Horse Tonight's The Night or Live Rust
60's James Brown
60's Cream
Stones 68 - 72
Elvis any time
Beatles Hamburg (before the feckin screaming)
Hendrix
Jerry Lee Lewis early 60's

I'd take Bomb-era U2 over all other tours U2 has ever done. Peformance-wise, they were at their absolute best on that tour.

Back on topic:

Duke Ellington Orchestra, late '40s/early '50s ( my mom saw them a few times back then)
Miles Davis Quintet, early 1960s
Bob Wills & the Texas Playboys, 1945-46 (when Junior Barnard was inventing rock lead guitar)
Yes, Going For The One tour
...and maybe Frank Zappa & the Mothers, Geneva, Switzerland, December 1971.

Each to their own, it's the worst (not bad, just dull) U2 gig I've been to and any recording of any show from that period doesn't seem to change my mind. Loved the revisited Boy stuff though. Do you like the album? I guess that would help. Interested to know why you would put it out in front of everything else? What am I missing?

Nice choices, I'm sure I've got that Zappa gig somewhere.

Prince any time apart from the mid to late 90's

I'd take the Prince shows I saw in that period over Vertigo and 360.

The New Power Soul show I saw at Wembley Arena in London ’98 was the single best concert experience of my entire life.  Prince’s set and the support acts of Larry Graham and his band and Chaka Khan seemed to mesh into a single concert, probably because Prince came onstage to duet with Chaka Khan and Larry before his own set.   I was on the front row and dead centre stage, Prince’s microphone stand was right in front of me and it felt like the show was just for me as I forgot there were 10,000 people behind me.  Prince even made eye contact with me a few times.    He was in a hyper mood that night and couldn’t sit still.  From where I was I could see a waiting area to the right-rear of the stage where the musicians were sat and I noticed Prince’s then wife, Mayte, there in a white dress.  There was what looked like a mixing desk at the side of the stage and Prince was there with some other guy when he wasn’t coming on and off the stage during the support acts.  It’s true that Prince’s own set that night wasn’t exactly the best of his career – and nor were his tours from 1997 - 2001 by any stretch of the imagination – but taken together that was a very special night for me.

No.

Sting is a viable second-place contender, but no.
