Adler gets 15% of all royalties for everything he recorded with Guns 'n' Roses.

Also, "Assets" does not = "cash in hand"

Mullen should be higher in the list.

Grohl, Collins, Henley, and Starr are not drummers - or active drummers.

And I think the accounting is wrong. He has more net worth than Ulrich and Watts for sure.  Maybe they have not counted all the 360 Tour profits yet.

Plus, the Stones make virtually nothing on new album sales and not sure if Metallica even sells albums.

After the next album-tour cycle of U2, Mullen will be the #1 pure drummer on the list - where he truly belongs.

Cheers,

J

Metallica outsells U2 in recent (and past) albums. Death Magnetic outsold NLOTH.

Lars gets a bigger share of Metallica profits than Larry does of U2

Grohl OWNS the Foo Fighters, gets an even bigger share. He still makes music. Is active

Henley is active.
Starr is active.
Collins retired but his greatest hits charted in top ten last year.

Really, you'll have to try harder. you're slipping.

Most made their money from albums they did no drum on.

Mullen has been a drummer all of his career.  He is a pure, active drummer. I doubt Watts is active in the recording scene.

Ulrich gets a bigger cut of the Metallica share so his success is a product of his shrewd negotiation. Mullen is a selfless band leader, never demanding more than his 1/5th share even though he is the band founder.

Henley and Starr also mix their profits with music they don't drum, but play other instruments on.

If that is the case, maybe we should add up Mullen's investment in Elevation Partners in Facebook and he will zoom past all of them for the top spot.

Cheers,

J

I'm guessing only Larry and his accountant know what he is really worth and I doubt that would be made known for all sorts of tax reasons

"Most made their money from albums they did no drum on"

Really ? Which ones ? Be specific.

"Mullen has been a drummer all of his career.  He is a pure, active drummer. I doubt Watts is active in the recording scene."

You DOUBT or you KNOW ? Watts is a founding member of th eStones, one of the most successful bands of all time.

"Ulrich gets a bigger cut of the Metallica share so his success is a product of his shrewd negotiation. "

No, he FORMED the band. just as Larry formed U2.

What you don't know is quite a lot.

"Mullen is a selfless band leader, never demanding more than his 1/5th share even though he is the band founder."

And Lars is a band founder. As is Watts. As is Grohl. etc.

"Henley and Starr also mix their profits with music they don't drum, but play other instruments on."

Being multi-talented is a good thing. They SHOULD get more money.

"If that is the case, maybe we should add up Mullen's investment in Elevation Partners in Facebook and he will zoom past all of them for the top spot."

The article states "Net Worth". Maybe it's already included. Of course then you'd have to add everyone else's investments in there too. Ask the author if you care.

U2 can't be on the top of every list.

Bono played the drums during the Vertigo Tour in Love And Peace Or Else.

Maybe he was the biggest omission on this list.

While Mullen relaxes in the years between U2's albums, in the time the Stones are not active Charlie Watts tours and records with a jazz band he put together. Watts is a lot more of an "active" drummer then Mullen. Instead of staying at home in the down time he's out playing jazz clubs 'cause he loves music.

Ulrich gets a bigger cut of the Metallica share so his success is a product of his shrewd negotiation. Mullen is a selfless band leader, never demanding more than his 1/5th share even though he is the band founder.

Mullen is actually lucky Bono and Edge as songwriters let Mullen get his 1/5 share. If he demanded more he'd probably be laughed out of the room. In most other bands the songwriters keep the lions share of the profits.

HaHa......That's true

No it isn't. He played A drum. Singular. Wonder if he's as good a drummer as he is a guitar player........
