Rattle & Hum was a Joshua Tree concert?

Confusing.

R&H wasn't a concert dvd, it was a documentary film

One word: LOVETOWN

what about it? you want them to release a concert dvd? yes!

Wasn't that what Rattle & Hum was?

Nah that was the JT tour. I want the full Australian lovetown show dvd officially released, the one God p2's video is taken from.

Oh. i forgot the word "lovetown" between "a" and "concert"

That would be amazing.

yes this is what i'm hoping for!

Ah, I never saw it. I can't stomach the majority of the setlist of the album and knew of the scathing reviews, so I skipped it.

They should just release a companion DVD of various 360 Tour performances of U22 songs instead of the art book. I'm sure they have plenty of video footage lying around.

not super confusing, it's a live album combined with new tracks. it would be impossible to include live tracks from a tour (lovetown) supporting an album (r&h) on the original album (using the standard, release the album then tour the album model). they would obviously have to come from the concerts completed prior to the albums release (JT tour).

oh and rattle and hum is well worth a watch for the performances alone. a failure perhaps as a film for non fans to admire but plenty there for a fan.

exactly. my bad for assuming this was all common knowledge on a U2 forum.

the failure is the album, NOT the film. as a film it's fine, as an album? no. i get it. its a "scrapbook" or whatever. the film is criticized as being self-important, it's very "hey america! U2 just discovered the blues! let U2 introduce the blues to you since you've never heard them!" etcetcetc. it is that at times i'd agree. but the performances on film are amazing. i'd love a big blu-ray remaster including outtakes etc.

Question is, though, given the delays of previous U2.com releases will members of the fan club get this at the same time as the general public buys the book or 3 months after?

The film is poorly edited, it looks terrible and it really is a failure of a film. Doesn't mean I don't like it though. I think it's in desperate need of an HD restoration.

There is a blu-ray, but no extra materials.  It's debatable whether the visual presentation is any better than the DVD since the film is intentionally so grainy.  However feel the audio is superior to that on the DVD.

i think that was one of those quick copy over versions without any effort done to clean up the image.

hopefully someone will spend some time on it in the future. its been complicated by the right not being held by u2 but this annoys me most when corporations cant get together and both make money just because they wont make a bucketload of money.

yea it just looks bad based on the film stock that was used during shooting. there's only so much you can do before it looks like photoshopped b.s. Film grain being left is essential to the natural look of the movies in general. the missed op. to me was excluding any bonus features like outtakes, promotional junkets that might of been filmed etc not being included
