Best B-Sides
« on: September 08, 2012, 07:04:42 PM »
You read the title, what do you think are U2's best B-Sides? Mine would be Love Comes Tumbling, a beautiful song with chillingly good vocals by Bono an a great baseline by Adam.

Honorable mentions: Wave of Sorrow - Another great song, though definitely wouldn't have worked on JT.
Bass Trap - Is it even possible to dislike this peaceful instrumental piece?
Every Breaking Wave - While not truly a B-Side, it's so incredible that it's unreleased status merits mention on this list.

What are your opinions?

great thread! i love introducing people to b-sides by mutual fav bands. i.e. some of my U2 friends that have seen a few tours haven't heard NASOTR, etc.

LCT is a great one for sure!
NASOTR? yea thats good too

no sure what mine is but i would like to say <this is just a pet peeve of mine> a b-side is NOT anything non-album. Wave of Sorrow isn't a b-side for example. Neither is HMTMKMKM. I'm not being a jerk, some people genuinely don't know this and think a b-side is anything non-album.

Walk To The Water
Summer Rain
Lady WTSH
Boomerang I & II
Silver & Gold (the full band studio recording)
A Room At The Heartbreak Hotel
Luminous Times
The Three Sunrises
Holy Joe Garage Mix

Not a B-side, but could count for one: Flower Child (I wish it had been released)

Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby singles had brilliant b-sides - Lady with the Spinning Head, Walk To The Water ... they were good times.

Bah, I still think its too good to just throw out of every conversation about secondary U2 songs. If I HAD to take it out, I would actually replace it with Alex Descends Into Hell.

Luminous Times and Walk To The Water are brilliant, and The Joshua Tree could have been a much better album had they been included.

Bass Trap is, and always shall be, my very favourite U2 B-Side.
