Meanwhile, in feast or famine land, someone who shall remain nameless hasn't written since Tuesday (and it's technically Saturday morning).  This person is *still* somehow on track thanks to a few early surges, but she worries that NaNoWriMo is starting to feel like those 5k races where she starts so strongly but then peters out as slow songs come up on her iPod (and then she blames the music)    ...I think a leap forward in my story's chronology should mix things up and move them along a bit.

BSS That is a great trick to skip writer's slump. I was having trouble starting my story so I just started writing in the middle. Now I am working on particular scenes and descriptions I want to incorporate and I will edit it all together when I am done. I am woefully behind but hope to be caught up by the end of Thanksgiving weekend.

I caught up yesterday. I was at 26693 - where I needed to be. I however dont have time today. SPent the morning with two of my bridesmaids looking at dresses. Seeing The Monkees in a few hours. I needed day off anyway. Back in tomorrow. Hopefully I stay caught up.

Got in about 3,200 words today.  Instead of doing that jump forward in time, I just focused on the next main character's narrative section.  I've been alternating between telling the experiences of the three main characters, so it seemed like the natural place to go.  Although the characters' stories are interrelated, changing perspectives and priorities almost makes it feel like I'm writing short stories instead.  And, from apparently nowhere, I got this genius idea for how to make today's character more likable and mature by giving her a new conflict I hadn't earlier anticipated.

I did this!! 50,000 words and the story's not over. I guess I can finally take a break and work on more productive things like "silly homework."

Awesome EC! You and everyone else here have really inspired me. At the start of this week I was at nothing. I am now up to 20K I think I can do this. Just going to really require a lot of work and catch up on my part. Thank goodness for the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend. 

Question: Is anyone sprinkling any U2 references in their novel?
